Then and Now
My friend came up to me at church last Sunday to tell me he had an awesome picture he found on his camera from last year in September when we went to the Greek Food Festival. The food was great, the picture ... well you decide. LOL. It makes me laugh. You can say what you want: it was a bad angle ... I'm sitting ... whatever. Its bad. Its 220 lbs at least at that point. Of course this picture also portrays me eating honey-covered doughnut holes. Very tasty, I'd probably eat them today if I had the opportunity, but I opt out of a lot of other things now-a-days to make up for it.
I took this picture last week, the beginning of September again. A year can make all the difference. So much hard work, exercising, eating better/less, Weight Watchers, riding my bike everywhere and a lot of determination have gotten me to 183 lbs. Huge difference, but not quite where I am "supposed" to be. Really I feel great. I've been overweight my whole life, this is huge for me. I know I'm not done losing weight, but for now I am content with relaxing and learning how to maintain my weight for a while. My worst fear is not knowing how to maintain. I've only learned how to gain and lose. This is my big test now. I've done pretty well with my New Years resolution. I'm not going to ruin it.

Oh, you know I love to hear this. Finally someone who has a grip on reality and what it takes to live a healthy lifestyle. It's not about losing weight. Its about changing what causes you to be fat. That is what you are doing. If you fix the real problem, the weight worrying just sort of takes care of itself.
You are looking Fan-freaking-tastic! Super proud of you. Just keeps on doing what you're doing. Steve and I have a new newyears tradition. On new years day we buy new jeans. A size smaller than we wore the year before. We've done it for three years in a row. Pretty slow weight loss, but I never complain when I drop three sizes. So what if it took three years.
I thought you looked fantastic yesterday. I hadn't seen you for a while and I saw big changes! You're a beautiful young woman with a bright future ahead. Go for it, you deserve the best! Love you
Way to go, Kjersty! It's so hard but then you get to see results like that and you realize how it really does pay off even if you don't realize it at those moments when it's the most difficult. For me, just losing 10 lbs was waaaay too hard to do for the longest time.
